USA • Allegheny Energy Supply has awarded a contract for four NOx reduction systems to Kvaerner. The contract, worth over $50 million, appoints Kvaerner prime contractor for the project at the utility's Pleasants power station, Willow Island, West Virginia. The company will be responsible for furnishing, fabricating and installing four selective catalytic reduction systems at the power plant. The four 64m high reactors have to be installed in an alleyway which is 15m wide and 600m high, atop a 34m work platform. Work is scheduled to commence in September 2001, with completion due in April 2003.
