Equipment for the Norte Fluminense power plant, Rio de Janeiro state, is to be supplied by Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp (SWPC) under a recently announced $200 million contract with joint owners Light (90 per cent) and Petrobras (10 per cent). The combined cycle power plant is being constructed near the port of Macae. Under the terms of the deal SWPC will provide three W501F gas turbines, three heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine. The company says the plant will achieve an efficiency of 56 per cent. The gas-fired station is due to enter service in late 2003.
