Essex engines

Clarke Energy, UK distributor of Jenbacher gas engines, won a contract for a 10 MW CHP plant. The project is at Langridge Nursery, a producer of cucumbers and peppers. Clarke Energy will install three Jenbacher 620 engines, each of 2.7 MW, and one 616 model engine, of 2 MW.
As well as providing power for the nursery, with surplus going to the grid, the by-products of generation, heat and CO2, are used to increase yields in the greenhouses. Delivery is due by the end of 1999.
