EthosEnergy generates longer life

15 May 2018

EthosEnergy (a joint venture of Wood Group and Siemens) has been awarded a multi-million $ generator inspection and rewind contract by Altura Cogen at their Channelview, Texas site.

The contract is for an on-site generator rotor inspection as well as a stator rewind and stator ring removal.

The inspection was prompted by damage sustained during the hurricane season. The resulting repair has proved to be a “value- added solution” that not only dealt with the damage but has also extended the life of the 7A6 generator.

Another recent generator contract reported by EthosEnergy was awarded by ENEA Wytwarzanie for work at the Kozienice coal fired plant in Poland. The contract is for the modernisation of the unit 8 generator stator, including manufacturing of stator bars, testing and inspecting the core using the EL- CID technique, and rewinding of the stator.

¦ Rotor exchange. EthosEnergy also reports that it is to supply a refurbished GE Frame 6B rotor to a combined cycle power plant in Germany, to be exchanged as part of the company’s “rotor pooling” scheme.
