GE Power reports that as of 14 June 2018, 26 of its HA gas turbines had achieved commercial operation, all in combined cycle facilities – not a bad sales record for a machine which debuted in 2016.

The technology has also set combined cycle efficiency records at both 50 Hz (Bouchain, 62.22%) and at 60 Hz. The 60 Hz record, reported in March 2018, was 63.08% gross recorded by Chubu Electric’s Nishi-Nagoya unit 1, which makes it the world’s most efficient combined cycle plant to date.

The record holders are Chubu jointly with Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions, which provided the steam turbine and generator technology, and as well as overall optimisation of plant system design and construction.

GE says the HA has achieved more than 118 000 operating hours and describes it as “the fastest growing fleet of gas turbines in the world”, with 76 units ordered by more than 25 customers across 15+ countries.
