Here comes the sunflower for a Nice 6 MWe

21 January 1999

TGS Robins Company runs a 6 MWe power plant near Nice, France, that is fuelled only by rapeseed or sunflower distillate, commonly known as bio-diesel. The plant uses four Caterpillar 3516B generator sets.

A recent survey has indicated that this fuel emits just 25 per cent of CO2 and other greenhouse gases compared with diesel.

TGS Robins signed a 9 year contract to supply 6 MWe over 22 peak shedding days per year with EDF.
