Live maintenance

UK specialist EA Technology has developed a simple piece of kit that allows the 'live' sampling of switchgear oil-filled containment tanks, enabling asset managers to move from fixed schedule maintenance to condition-based maintenance of switchgear. EA's maintenance service includes laboratory analysis and interpretation of results.

It can be applied to any tank that has a sampling access lid, and involves placing over the access opening a purpose built acrylic cover with built in syringe, enabling samples to be taken without shutting down the equipment or compromising safety standards. Oil condition is a critical factor in determining when invasive maintenance is required. This method is designed to make maintenance procedures less costly and more effective.
