MHPS in Mongolia

14 May 2016

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has received an order to refurbish eight units at the Ulaanbaatar Thermal Power Plant No 4, Mongolia’s biggest coal-fired power plant.

MHPS will implement the refurbishment work in co-operation with MCS International, Mongolia's largest engineering company. Refurbishment work is slated for completion in October 2018.

The project, which is financed by a Japanese ODA loan from the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), is aimed at improving the power plant's power generation efficiency and extending the facility's service life.

Core components of the coal pulverisers in units 5 to 8 will be renewed to extend service life, while soot blowers will be added to the boilers all eight units to prevent fall-off in heat exchange efficiency.
