Valmet to supply automation technology to Dunbar ERF

28 August 2016

Valmet has signed an agreement with Babcock & Wilcox Vølund A/S to supply automation technology for the new Dunbar energy recovery facility (ERF) in East Lothian, Scotland, UK. Valmet’s delivery is scheduled for March 2017. This is the second project in the UK for which Babcock & Wilcox Vølund has employed Valmet automation technology, the first being that for the Peterborough waste-to-energy plant, which started up in 2015.

Once in operation in late 2017, the Dunbar ERF will have a capacity to treat approximately 300 000 tons of waste per year. The plant will have an installed capacity of 30 MWe, and will also offer up to 10 MW of heat for local use.

Babcock & Wilcox Vølund is engineering, procurement and construction contractor, while the plant will be operated and maintained by Viridor.
