Established in 1939, the British Valve and Actuator Association (BVAA) represents the interests of over 100 British companies who are responsible for over £1 billion sales each year.  BVAA can help provide solutions to your flow control problems. The BVAA is the industry body for manufacturers, distributors and repairers of valves, actuators and related products.  We are a not-for-profit organisation and provide our members, and their customers, with a number of important and invaluable services.  BVAA membership fees can often be easily offset by new business brought to you via the association, administration savings and via heavily discounted advertising and training. www.bvaa.org.uk

Training Courses
BVAA delivers its own series of training courses on introductions to valves, actuators, control valves, safety valves, safety integrity levels (SILs) and European Directives, such as PED and ATEX.  The courses are also open to non-members and are competitively priced.  They are delivered in the spring and autumn each year at our Banbury (UK) HQ, or alternatively as in-house courses at clients’ own premises.  These courses are delivered by highly experienced industry professionals, are extremely popular and always result in comments of the highest praise. www.bvaa.org.uk/training

Valve User magazine
BVAA produces its own high quality industry magazine, ‘Valve User’, circulated quarterly to tens of thousands of readers all around the globe.  It contains application stories, company profiles, new product announcements and industry news.  Editorial is free to BVAA members, who also qualify for heavily discounted advertising.  Adverts are also available to non-members, particularly suppliers to the industry.  www.valveuser.com

Desktop Exhibitions
For many years BVAA has provided ‘desktop’ exhibitions for our customers at their own premises.  These zero-cost, hassle-free events are designed to meet customers’ needs, at their convenience. Advantages

  • Essential product and technology updates for Procurement, Engineering, 'admin' and trainee staff
  • Hassle-free - BVAA will manage the whole event
  • Zero cost - BVAA will pass on no costs
  • Desktop style - desks typically 1m wide
  • Professional approach - each desk will have samples of products, display material and technically competent staff
  • Usually set during lunch periods for minimum 'downtime'
  • Opportunities for staff to get 'hands on' experience of products they might not otherwise see.

“This event provided a good opportunity for the company's younger buyers and engineers to view the products and gain an appreciation of their complexity and size - something they are only normally able to see when on a site visit"

BVAA manages a number of technical committees and forums on behalf of industry, and supplies the bulk of UK expertise to standards making at BSI, ISO and CEN.  We also contribute to UK and European legislation that affects the industry, and produce a number of industry and legislation guidelines.  The BVAA also provides its members with a Technical Consultant, providing free technical advice to members as part of their subscription.  Consultation can also be arranged for industry customers. www.bvaa.org/publications

HR and Health & Safety Service - Business Shield
To help protect our members from what can be a considerable burden, BVAA has launched a package of services entitled “Business Shield”, which is delivered in partnership with Croner, the UK’s leading provider of workplace information and consultancy services.  ‘Business Shield’ is a comprehensive service including the web-based Croner-i health and safety and employment law resource, a Business Support telephone helpline and a related commercial legal expenses insurance.  Business Shield forms part of the standard BVAA membership benefits package, at no additional cost, enabling BVAA members to concentrate on what they do best – servicing their customers.
