GE Energy has installed its 2500th 1.5MWe wind turbine in Enel’s Littigheddu project in Sardinia, Italy. The project includes 36 of the GE machines, and when completed will be Enel’s largest wind project. GE’s first 1.5 MWe turbine was installed in April 1996 in Germany.
GE’s current R&D efforts are concentrated on improving the efficiency of the wind turbines in low wind regimes.
