ABB expands in Vietnam

13 November 2008

Engineering firm ABB is to address growing demand for its products in Asia with the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Vietnam.

Switzerland-based ABB is to invest nearly $30 million in the new facility, which will produce medium voltage and high voltage power products for local and overseas markets. It will be built on 87 000 sq metres of land in the Tien Son Industrial Zone and will go into full operation by the end of 2009.

The new plant is part of an ongoing initiative to build new capacity in Asia and to increase its presence in Vietnam, says ABB. The company plans to hire and train hundreds of local employees to work at the plant.
