Abengoa to build 200 MW California PV plant

18 June 2012

Abengoa has announced that it is to build what will be one of the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in the USA.

The Spain-based engineering firm has been awarded a $360 million contract to engineer, construct and commission the 200 MW plant in Imperial Valley, California, but has not named the project or its developer.

Abengoa says that it will complete the plant within 18 months and bring it into operation progressively during the second half of 2013. The company is better known for its solar thermal tower technology, which it has deployed in Spain as well as the USA.
