Abengoa wins its first TX project concession in India

Abengoa has been awarded its first concessions project in Asia. The project is owned by Torrent Power Ltd, which operates in the state of Gujurat, India and is worth a total of $69 million.
Abengoa will be responsible for engineering, design and construction of two transmission lines totalling 134 km, as well as operating and maintaining them for a 25 year period, with the possibility of extending this by an additional ten years. Construction is expected to start at the end of this year, with an estimated completion time of 38 months from the awarding of the project.
The first contract is for a 400 kV line of 113.7 km, of which 4.4 km are underground, to connect Dahej with the city of Vadodara. The second line will have a 220 kV capacity and will run 23 km between the district of Bhestan and the city of Navsari.
Abengoa has carried out numerous projects in India and was recently awarded a contract for an 800 kV high voltage line covering 400 km. The company also has a solar support manufacturing plant located in Halol, Gujurat. The factory can produce 30 000 tons per year of metal tower structures and other solar supports.
