AE&E opens Bandirma CCGT

4 November 2010

AE&E has successfully closed the biggest project in its history with the official opening of the 918 MW combined cycle power plant Bandirma in Turkey. The AE&E Group, in a consortium with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, was responsible for the turnkey construction of the plant which was inaugurated on 23 October by the client Enerjisa, a joint venture of the Austrian electricity company Verbund and Sabanci, in the presence of Turkey's prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the energy minister Taner Yildiz.

The plant has been operating since 8 October and has been able to provide more than the contractually agreed net power of 918 MW. Ownership and responsibility are scheduled to be handed over to the customer following the remaining performance tests including a 72 hour reliability run in November this year. The 24 month warranty period begins following two months of trial operation by Enerjisa.

The scope of supplies and services of AE&E included engineering, the supply of the heat recovery steam generator, control and instrumentation, mechanical and electrical balance of pant as well as the erection, commissioning and start-up of the combined cycle power plants. Consortium partner MHI delivered two gas turbines with its latest F-technology and the steam turbine.
