Aker Kvaerner wins boiler contracts

7 July 2006

The new generation recovery boiler, rated at 3600 tonnes of dry solids per day and steam parameters of 505°C and 103 bar, will be designed for maximum power generation and it will increase the electricity production produced from biofuels.

Aker Kvaerner has also recently won a power boiler island contract for KFx Inc, which is developing a coal beneficiation facility at their Buckskin plant in Wyoming, USA.

The €60 million contract will see Aker Kvaerner supply the circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler with a steam capacity of 88 kg/s for the KFx coal beneficiation process, which utilises heat and pressure to physically and chemically transform high moisture, low heating value coals, into more energy efficient, lower emission fuel.

The new boiler island will be ready in December 2008.
