French engineering group Alstom has won a turnkey contract for the design, construction and installation of a CHP plant boiler for Thailand's National Petrochemical Public Company Limited (NPC).

The plant, in Rayong, Thailand, will provide steam to NPC’s petrochemical process plant.

The scope of work for Alstom, to be carried out by its Australian unit, consists of the supply and erection of an HRSG and balance of plant including a step-up transformer, civil works, interconnecting piping and electrical work, and the erection of a GE Frame 6 gas turbine generator.

Construction will begin in December 2005 and the plant is scheduled to come into operation in "open cycle" by June 2006 and combined cycle by December 2006.

The financial structure of the deal was not disclosed.
