Alstom is to undertake its fourth flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) project in India after signing a contract with National Thermal Power Corporation.
NTPC has placed an order with Alstom for the supply of an FGD system for the 500 MW Vindyachal super-thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh, India. The system will be the first full scope limestone based FGD for a 500 MW plant in India, says Alstom.
The scope of the contract includes delivery of the wet limestone based FGD system for the pulverised coal-fired boiler unit on a full turnkey basis including designing, engineering, manufacturing, testing, civil works, erection and commissioning.
"This project will be a benchmark installation in India," said Patrick Ledermann, managing director of Alstom India. "The FGD will have SO2 removal efficiency of more than 90% which further reaffirms our commitment towards providing clean power solutions and our growing footprint in air quality control systems."
Alstom's other FGD installations in India include sea water based systems at Tata Power, JSW Ratnagiri and Adani Mundra.
