Alstom wins US clean coal contracts

Alstom will supply SOx, particulate and mercury emission control systems for eight new coal-fired 858 MW units that will be built by TXU in Texas and are scheduled to begin operation from 2009 onwards. This contract is worth €280 million.

In addition, Alstom will supply a SOx and particulate emissions control system for Unit 1 of East Kentucky Power Cooperative’s 340 MW H.L. Spurlock Power Station in Maysville, Kentucky. The order is valued at approximately €80 million with the new equipment scheduled to commence commercial operation in 2009.

In South Carolina, in cooperation with AMEC and Zachry Construction, Alstom will supply an air quality control system to Cope Power Station for South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G). The total order value is more than €50 million. The system will reduce NOx from the existing 430 MW plant and is scheduled to commence commercial operation in January 2009.
