The overall contract value is approximately €60 million, with the VA Tech portion corresponding to about two thirds. Completion of the projects is scheduled for 2009.
The three orders relate to plants located to the north of Rome, in Galleto, Baschi and Alviano. Besides being the consortium leader, VA Tech will be responsible for the design engineering, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the different turbine units.
Galleto will be supplied with four vertical Francis, and Baschi with two vertical Francis turbines with an output of approximately 40 MW. At Alviano, two Kaplan turbines, each with 6.6 MW output will be installed. In addition, the scope of supply includes new digital turbine governor systems as well as the complete power station controls and auxiliary electrical equipment.
