ASSAM SOLAR SCHEMES

The Indian government is to support three solar projects in the north Indian state of Assam, involving the provision of solar generated power to the villages of Jabda, Narapati and Kandigram in the Cachar district. The government will provide 90 per cent of the cost of the units, which will generate a total of 70 kW and supply power to 700 families. Power generation is due to begin in 2003.
