UK-based Atkins has been awarded the monopile engineering contract for the 400MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm that is being developed by Norwegian companies Statoil (70%) and Statkraft (30%), 20 miles off Cromer on the English east coast.
Seaway Heavy Lifting has also won a separate contract covering installation of the substation and 67 foundations for the project.
Atkins' contract will cover all design and engineering services for the monopile foundations for the 6.0 MW turbines as well as management assistance during fabrication and installation, commencing in 2015.
The contract awarded to Seaway Heavy Lifting, announced 21 March, will cover storage, transportation and installation of monopiles, transition pieces, jackets and offshore substation foundation and topside. Installation work is due to start between March and May 2016 and be completed in August 2016, the developer said.
The Seaway Heavy Lifting crane vessel Oleg Strashnov will be utilised for the transportation and installation of the monopile foundations.
The execution of the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project is 'subject to a final investment decision by its owners,' which is expected by the end of September 2014.
