Bemco is frontrunner to build Saudi power plant

Reuters reports that Saudi Arabian Bemco Contracting Company has submitted the lowest bid to build a near-2000 MW combined cycle power plant near the Saudi capital Riyadh for state controlled Saudi Electricity Company.

The sources said that the winning company will also build 380 kV high voltage substations. The deal is expected to be awarded around end-April. Bemco submitted the lowest bid of SAR 2371.83 per kilowatt for the plant, known as PP12.

Other bids, from South Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Daelim Industrial, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas and a consortium of Saudi firm National Contracting Co and Siemens, ranged from SAR 2419.48 to SAR 3163.63 per kW .
