India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is to install two of its newly-rated boiler units at a greenfield power project in Madhya Pradesh, India.
The engineering firm has won the order for the main plant package following an international competitive bidding process held by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL). It says that it outbid a number of Chinese firms that tendered to build the Malwa Thermal Power Project.
The order is valued at Rs31 500 million. BHEL’s scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the steam turbines, generators, boilers, transformers, busducts and I&C, as well as the civil works for the main power block.
BHEL says it has introduced new ratings to its portfolio of 270 MW, 525 MW and 600 MW in order to meet customer demand for smaller units.
The first unit at Malwa is scheduled to go on-line within 39 months of contract signing, and the second unit four months later.
