Biomass set for massive growth

A new report cites a shift away from fossil fuels and towards renewables as a key driver in the expansion of biomass energy, a resource that is becoming an increasingly attractive option to energy providers.

Biomass is simple and cost effective,the report says, with some estimates predicting that by 2050, it could provide 50% of the world's primary energy needs adds the report: The Future Of Global Biomass Power Generation: The Technology, Economics And Impact Of Biomass Power Generation.

The next decade will see the development of efficient biomass systems and spur the development of a fast growth new global bio-power industry, the report concludes.
