Black & Veatch has been selected by Grand River Dam Authority, Oklahoma's state-owned utility to provide engineering services for the installation of a $400m CCGT power plant at its Grand River Energy Centre.

The 495 MW plant to be built at Chouteau, about 56 km east of Tulsa, will be the first in the Western Hemisphere to deploy the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry J-series combustion turbine.

Black & Veatch is providing permitting and engineering, construction and procurement-related services for the project. This includes conceptual engineering and procurement services for the combustion turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator and step-up transformers.

The new Unit 3 at the Grand River Energy Center is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017, and will include a new substation that is being designed by B&V.
