Calpine and GE to install H System in Southern California

3 August 2005

Inland Empire in Riverside County, California, is to be the site of an 800 MW H-system CCGT under development by Calpine Corp and GE.

Construction is due to begin this month following regulatory approval and the plant is expected to begin operations in mid-2008. GE has acquired the site and related development rights for the project from Calpine and the companies have definitive agreements under the terms of which GE will finance, own and operate the plant and Calpine will manage plant construction and market its output.

Following an extended period of GE ownership, Calpine will purchase the plant and become its sole owner and operator, with GE continuing to provide critical plant maintenance services under a long-term agreement with Calpine.
