Centrax wins French orders

11 February 2011

Centrax has announced the receipt of four new orders from France for gas turbine powered generating sets.

The UK-based genset manufacturer is to supply three CX501-KB7 packages to existing customers to replace earlier KB7 units, and will also supply another CX501-KB7 unit to a new customer.

Two of the new Centrax packages are for the operator SEMHACH and will equip district heating schemes in the southern Paris suburbs of Chevilly-Larue and l'Hayles-Roses. The new packages each generate 5.5 MW of electricity plus heat to supply the local community and businesses with power and hot water.

They supplement a geothermal facility that draws water at around 74°C from 1800 m below ground, from which heat is recovered through heat exchangers.

The third replacement Centrax package equips a district heating scheme in the northern Paris suburb of Gennevilliers operated by COFELY. This site is next to a school, requiring a strict low-noise specification.

The new Centrax customer is the Vaulx-en-Velin power station in the north-east suburbs of Lyon, operated by COFELY. Here the customer was unhappy with service standards provided by the former supplier and elected to replace the older equipment with a KB7 package, the most efficient gas turbine unit in its class.
