China's National Energy Administration (NEA) says that the country will install 13 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in 2014.
That figure is above a guideline target set by the State Council in July 2013 of 10 GW. NEA says that it will reach the target by supporting the development of distributed PV power generation.
Previously the government had said it would support a maximum of 14 GW of new PV capacity in 2014 through its various incentive schemes, according to PV Tech magazine.
The Chinese government recently implemented a number of policies to encourage the development of distributed PV projects, including subsidies and tax incentives, and measures to speed up grid connections.
The NEA has also called on local governments to facilitate the development of distributed PV projects.
