Chinas massive power investment

The Chinese Electricity Council (CEC) is expected to boost the country’s generating capacity by 70 GW a year for the next three years, according to Wang Yonggan, secretary-general of the CEC.

With an estimated cost of CNY 5,000/kW ($617/kW), the total investment is expected to reach CNY 350 billion ($43.2 billion). Installed capacity is expected to reach 510 GW this year, 580 GW in 2006 and 650 GW in 2007.
