The €24.6 million facility follows agreements with equity partners the Chinese public group China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and the INCEISA marketing firm in 2005 and a deal with China Longyuan (Guodian Group) for the supply of 67 AW-1500 wind turbines, between October 2006 and February 2007, destined for the wind farm at LongYuan Qidong (Jiangsu province) with an overall power of 100.5 MW. A memorandum of understanding for wind developments in Inner Mongolia was also signed.
The first delivery to be dispatched by the Nantong plant will be 33 AW-1500 turbines adapted for low-temperature for the Zhangbei wind farm, a 49.5 MW facility promoted by the China Guotou group in the province of Hebei. The wind turbines will be supplied between next July and October.
The facilities could be expanded to allow up to 900 units per year.
The news comes as GE Energy also opened a wind turbine assembly plant in Shenyang, China. The facility, wholly owned by GE, is designed to produce 1.5 MW turbines with delivery of the first units is expected this month.
Acciona has also announced plans to construct the 28.05 MW Volovja Reber windpark, the first to be installed in Slovenia, after receiving a positive environmental impact declaration from the Ministry of the Environment of Slovenia.
Construction of the farm, using 33 850 kW turbines, is likely to start in March 2007.
It will be located in the municipality of Ilirska Bystrica.
