Construction underway at Vietman WTE plant

7 July 2017

Construction has started on Vietnam’s first waste-to-energy (WTE) plant, according to developer Everbright International.

The Hong Kong-based company held a commencement ceremony at the Can Tho project site at the end of June and says that the 7.5 MW plant will start operating in 2018.

Everbright won the bid for Can Tho in July 2016 and will develop the plant – its first overseas WTE project – on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. It will invest $47 million in the project, it added.

Can Tho will be able to process 400 tonnes of household waste per day and will use Everbright’s in-house WTE technology.
