Cummins increase rental options

5 February 2002

Singapore based Cummins Power Rent has produced two new high output (1 MW and 800 kW) packaged gensets for its SE Asia rental fleet, bringing to 12 the total of models available in the 60 kW to 1500 kW range.

The sets are enclosed within standard ISO containers with internal silencing and ductwork that reduces noise levels to around 85 dBA at 1m, correponding to near-inaudiblity 25 m away.

The 1 MW set is driven by Cummins' KTA50G3 V16 16-cylinder diesel; upgrading to the KTA50g8 provides 1.150 MWe. The 800 kW version uses a new engine, the QSK30G3, a V12, low fuel consumption model. Both gensets incorporate the 'PowerCommand' digital engine management system, a 'smart' system that limits black smoke at start up, optimises cold weather starting, avoids frequency overrshoots and offers phased load ramping for sudden heavy loads. All sets have built in 4 hour tanks and are equipped for paralleling outputs.
