Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract to deliver 80 wind turbines of the SWT-3.6-120 type for the 288 MW DanTysk offshore wind power plant located in the North Sea. The customer is DanTysk Offshore Wind GmbH in which Vattenfall Europe and Stadtwerke München have stakes of 51% and 49% respectively, with Vattenfall the plant operator. Installation of the turbines is scheduled to begin in 2012 and plant commissioning is scheduled for winter 2013-2014.
DanTysk is about 70 km west of the island of Sylt, near the maritime boundary with Denmark, with water depths up to 30 m. Each turbine has an output of 3.6 MW and a rotor diameter of 120 m.
This is Siemens' fourth order for a commercial offshore wind power plant in
German waters, consolidating its dominant market share in the embryonic offshore wind business, both in Germany and worldwide.
