Dongbu ultra-supercritical signs contract for turbogenerator sets

In a contract worth over €100 million Alstom has signed with Dongbu Corporation a contract to deliver equipment for Dongbu Green power plant units1&2 (total 1200 MW), the first ultrasupercritical coal-fired power plant to be constructed by an independent power producer in Korea. This contract covers the delivery of two 600MW steam turbines, generator sets and accessories. It will be completed by 2016. The turbines and generators will be manufactured in Alstom’s production sites in Europe and China.

Dongbu Green Power Plant will help to meet Korea’s growing energy demands which are projected to grow at 2.3% per year through 2030.  Korea’s current capacity is estimated at 90GW, with the total capacity expected to reach approximately 110GW by 2020.

This contract - Alstom’s largest steam turbine and generator order in Korea - strengthens the company’s position as a key player in the country, having taken part in constructin nearly 15 GW of its installed capacity. The company has delivered more than 20 gas turbines and supplied over 50% of the country’s installed boilers and hydro turbines.
