Doosan inks new coal plant contract

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has signed a contract to provide turbines and generators for the new coal-fired thermal plant in Seocheon County, South Chungcheong, Korea.

The $596 million contract cover the supply of the main equipment, including the boilers and turbines, for the Goseong Hai thermal power plant units 1 and 2. It was given notice to proceed with the contract from SK Engineering & Construction on December 4, 2015, according to a statement.

The 2 x 1000 MW ultra-supercritical Goseong Hai power plant is scheduled for completion in early 2021.

"Doosan has achieved unrivalled leadership in the Korean market for 1000 MW class thermal power plant projects," said an official at Doosan. "We now aim to extend our commitment to serve our customers overseas, by banking on the strength of our advanced solutions and proven experience in Korea."
