The Dutch government is set to unveil a draft law to unbundle the country's high-voltage transmission grid from generation activities, despite opposition from utility companies which own the majority of the national network.
Transmission system operator TenneT is apparently considering an offer of euro 2.5 billion for the utilities' share in the network in order to gain full control. However, the Netherlands' four main utilities Essent, Nuon, Eneco and Delta feel that the unbundling move may leave the sector open to foreign takeovers.
