Dyesol signs LOI on perovskite technology

31 October 2016

Australian solar tech firm Dyesol has signed a letter of intent with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to collaborate in the field of perovskite solar cells.

Perovskite solar cells are a third generation solar photovoltaic (PV) technology that can be applied to glass, metal, polymers or cement. Commercialization of the technology is a key focus of Dyesol’s business.

The agreement with CSIRO will provide a framework for collaboration and cooperation that provides “the greatest opportunity for the development and commercialisation of this exciting and emerging third-generation technology … to be undertaken in Australia”, Dyesol said.

“We believe CSIRO, currently our fourth largest individual shareholder, is ideally positioned to explore opportunities to improve and enhance the technology as we plan and execute the launch of perovskite solar cell PV products for commercialisation for years to come,” said Richard Caldwell, MD of Dyesol.

Dyesol and CSIRO will also use the agreement to seek access to government funding sources in the future, Dyesol said.
