E.On boost Ratcliffe-on-Soar efficiency

20 September 2005

PowerGen owners E.On UK have boosted the efficiency of its 2 GW Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottinghamshire with the refurbishment of the steam turbine at unit 4.

The replacement of the turbine internals by Siemens has increased efficiency by some 12% using a new state of the art High Performance High Pressure (HPHP) turbine using the most up-to-date 3D blading.

E.On UK has committed nearly £5 million ($9.1 million) to improving Ratcliffe’s overall thermal efficiency.
