A new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Slovakia will help to improve grid stability in the country, says E.On.
The German energy giant has inaugurated the 436 MW power plant at Malženice and says that commissioning of the high-efficiency plant marks a key milestone in the development of Slovakia’s power generation industry.
“The new Malženice power station is our biggest single investment in Slovakia so far,” said Jørgen Kildahl, the Member of the Board of E.On AG responsible for the global generation business. “With its high efficiency it contributes to making the country’s power generation even more climate- and environmentally-friendly.
“CO2 emissions for instance are about 25 per cent lower than at existing plants in Slovakia.”
The €400 million plant can achieve an efficiency of over 59 per cent, according to E.On, which has been operating in Slovakia for nine years through a shareholding in the ZSE Group. It will make a significant contribution to compensating for fluctuating electricity production from renewable energies in the country.
