E.On has commissioned a 50 MW wind farm in Poland, reinforcing the company's position in Poland's electricity market and boosting the share of renewable energy in its own generating portfolio.
The 52.5 MW Wielkopolska wind farm is one of the country's largest and most technically advanced wind farms, with 21 turbines located at seven sites around Poznan. E.On has invested €100 million in the project.
Poland plays a key role in E.On's efforts to grow its renewable energy portfolio due to its many high wind-yield sites. The company now ranks among the top five companies generating wind power in Poland and is also one of the most important investors in the development of green power in the country.
E.On is planning to increase the share of renewable energy in its generating portfolio to 10 GW by 2015 and is investing €8 billion between 2007 and 2012 in renewable energy.
E.On says that it is on track to have 4 GW of renewable energy operating by the end of 2010.
