The framework cooperation agreement with state-owned CDC, China’s biggest electricity producer, is mainly concerned with the joint development of investment projects for the construction, operation and management of power generation in China.
The agreement, with CGNPC extends the existing cooperation between the two partners to the nuclear generation sector, where EdF remains poised to invest.
EdF was involved alongside CGNPC in the construction and commissioning of the Daya Bay and Ling Ao nuclear power plants, comprising four 1,000 MW units in service and two 1000 MWe units under construction in the province of Guangdong. CGNPC is in charge of the development and construction of many of China’s new nuclear projects including the two 1000 MWe units at Hongyanhe in Liaonning province, where site preparation work was recently completed.
Pierre Gadonneix, EdF chairman and chief executive, signed the two industrial partnership agreements with Zhai Ruoyu, chairman of Datang, and Qian Zhimin, chairman of Guangdong National Power.
