Endesa launches Spanish offshore venture

27 February 2007

Potential wind capacity in coastal areas of Spain has been estimated at around 3,000 MW and Enerfin-Enervento already participates in 650 MW of wind capacity.

The development comes as Endesa concludes its three year agreement with Gamesa to acquire wind farms in Italy. The wind farms it has purchased are Iardino in the Campania region, Montecute in the Basilicata region, Poggi Alti in Tuscany as well as Marco A. Severino I and II, Piano di Corda and Serra Plata in Calabria.

These acquisitions entail a total investment of €305 million.

Together with wind farms in Florinas, Trapani and Vizzini, the new facilities will provide Endesa Europe with a 15% share of total installed wind-power capacity in Italy.
