Enel a candidate for geo plant

17 November 2004

Chilean state oil company Enap has been in talks with the regional subsidiary of Italian power company Enel as a prospective partner in the development of a 300 MW geothermal project in the country.

Regulations allow the public company to have no more than a 49 per cent stake in the project, requiring it to team up with a private company.

The partnership would be part of Enap’s strategy to develop geothermal resources in three areas of the country: Apacheta-La Torta, Calabozo and Chillan.
