Enel unveils investment plans

Italian energy giant, Enel, has announced plans to invest some €13 billion through to 2009.

The investments are expected to be focussed on improving efficiency in order to cut the average Italian energy bill by 20%. To achieve this, Enel plans to generate more electricity from coal and gas in a shift away from expensive oil.
