Energos moves waste plant project to next stage

24 April 2014

Energos has appointed Mott MacDonald to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for a 90 000 t/annum waste to energy plant in the UK.

The proposed plant will be built at the Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park and will process non-recyclable and non-hazardous household waste using gasification technology. Mott MacDonald will provide the full mechanical and electrical design of the power plant as well as procurement and construction management support services.

The plant will generate 7 MW of energy and is being designed, built and will be operated by AmeyCespa on behalf of Milton Keynes Council.

David Brown, Mott MacDonald's framework manager, said: "The plant will make the most of waste which otherwise would have gone to landfill. By using the most efficient and cost effective technology, the plant will generate renewable energy and create enough electricity to power approximately 11 000 homes in the region."

The plant is due to be completed in 2016.
