Total emissions of the six main greenhouse gases - carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulphur hexafluoride - in 2005 came in at more than 7.25 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
The report indicates that while overall emissions have grown by 16% from 1990 to 2005, the country’s economy has grown by 55% over the same period. The inventory also calculates carbon dioxide emissions that are removed from the atmosphere by sinks.
