Essar awards CFB contract to Foster Wheeler

20 October 2011

Foster Wheeler says that a contract to supply four boilers to a project in India represents the company’s re-entry into the Indian power market.

The USA-based company is to design and supply four circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boilers for Essar Power Salaya Limited, which is developing the Salaya III power plant. The boilers will burn a blend of pet coke and coal.

Foster Wheeler says that the ability of its CFB boilers to burn a wide range of fuels makes India an “exceptional” market for its products. It will design and supply four 150 MWe units to Essar, and will also provide site advisory and commissioning services.
