Euronext works on carbon

A consortium of French companies is developing plans for a European carbon trading market. According to a statement by Euronext and partners Caisse des Depots et Consignations and the French electricity market operator Powernext, they plan to launch the market in March this year. The system for exchanging emissions rights came into force on 1 January under EU regulations aimed at delivering Kyoto commitments.
