Fatal accident at Vestas WTG site

6 December 2012

Vestas says that it has asked a third party company to conduct an independent investigation into an accident in Germany in which a subcontractor was killed.

The Danish wind turbine company reported that a crane operator installing Vestas turbines at a project site in Mannhagen, Schleswig-Holstein, suffered fatal injuries when a blade fell onto the crane cabin.

The exact cause of the accident is at present unclear. Vestas said in a statement that it, together with the crane company and the authorities, would “conduct a thorough investigation to establish the root cause” of the fatal incident.
